Though Gwyneth Paltrow isn’t technically totally retired from acting, the 45-year-old star recently admitted that she’s found Hollywood to be increasingly “frustrating” and would rather focus on her successful beauty and lifestyle brand, Goop, instead. 

“I really liked acting. But at a certain point, it started to feel frustrating in a way not to have true agency, like to be beholden to other people to give you a job, or to create something, to put something into the world,” she told The New York Times in a recent interview. 

Earlier this year, Gwyneth similarly opened up about acting less in the future now that she has “to be in the office every day” with Goop. “I don’t do a lot of acting right now, so when I do I look for what’s going to have the best [return on investment] in terms of time and impact,” she said at the Sun Valley Film Festival Vision Award in Idaho, according to Variety. 

“It’s fun to do something like The Avengers. I get to go to Atlanta for two days, see my friends, do a scene with Robert [Downey Jr.], come home.” She added, “So, it’s like a puzzle to try to put it together. I look for things that will be fun and or I’ll learn something.”

In June 2017, Gwyneth also suggested her acting career may be slowing down. “I’m not sure how I’ll feel about acting going forward. I’m doing just a teensy little bit here and there when I have time, but I am loving running my business,” she said. “You know, my life has been skewing far more heavily towards my business, and it has to right now that we have so much going on. We’re growing so fast, and it’s such an exciting time to be doing what I’m doing.”

On top of her booming company, Gwyneth is also set to walk down the aisle again very soon. She announced her engagement to Brad Falchuk in January, and now she’s likely pretty busy with wedding planning. “It’s kind of fun to talk about with my girlfriends,” she previously told People Style of her upcoming nuptials. “They send me pictures of dresses — they’re as excited about it as I am. It’s pretty cute.” We can’t wait to see what’s next for Gwyneth!
