‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Had a Different Title Originally — Find out What It Was!

No way!

Grey’s Anatomy fans may be surprised to learn that the title of the hit medical drama wasn’t always Grey’s Anatomy. According to Elle, the show was originally called Surgeons!

Well, we’re just thankful that the show’s creator Shonda Rhimes didn’t go with that in the end. While some of the series’ competitors like ER and Scrubs have catchy one-word titles, we can’t imagine the show’s title not being centered around the main character, Dr. Meredith Grey (portrayed by Ellen Pompeo).

In a previous interview, ABC Chief Channing Dungey revealed the hit series may never end!

“What Shonda and the team at Grey’s have really been able to do over time is continue to bring in new characters that give the series additional life and energy while remaining true to the core cast of characters,” Dungey continued. “When I’ve been looking at the fan feedback and reaction from this season, people are more interested than ever in the relationship between Meredith and Alex [Justin Chambers], and these are two characters that have been around since Season 1. But we’re now experiencing them in a totally different way than we have before. That’s just what the writers do so well; they continually peel back new layers of these characters that we get to expand and explore.” So cool!
