Alex Rocco, an actor best known for his supporting role as Moe Greene in The Godfather, has sadly died.

The star passed away after battling cancer on Saturday, July 18 at age 79, his daughter Jennifer Rocco announced on her Facebook account over the weekend.

“RIP Dad, be with Mom and Marc… I will see you but not for a while…” she captioned a photo of her late father.

Throughout his more than 50-year Hollywood career, Alex was known for playing villainous characters and for working as a voice actor. In addition to The Godfather, his other notable film credits include The Wedding Planner, That Thing You Do! and Disney/Pixar’s animated flick A Bug’s Life. He also starred on TV shows The Facts of Life, The Famous Teddy Z — for which he won an Emmy Award — and Magic City.

According to Variety, Alex is survived by his wife, actress Shannon Wilcox, daughter Jennifer, son Lucien and a grandson.
