After her ex-husband Marc Anthony announced the death of his mother, Guillerminna “Ginny” Muñiz, on Thursday, July 27 from unknown causes, Jennifer Lopez knew exactly what he needed — to be surrounded by his loving family.

Jen took to Instagram to share a touching photo of her ex-hubby surrounded by six of his seven children — their nine-year-old twins Max and Emme, plus Marc’s 16-year-old son Cristian and 13-year-old son Ryan, whom he shared with ex-wife Dayanara Torres. Also featured in the photo was his 23-year-old daughter Ariana whom he shares with his ex-girlfriend Debbie Rosado. The former couple’s adopted son, Chase, was not in the photo.

“Just what the doctor ordered…Surrounded by love,” the 48-year-old wrote in the caption, along with a sweet message to her former mother-in-law which was written in Spanish. It translates to, “Rest in peace, Ginny. We are going to miss you.”

Ginny’s passing came just four days after Marc asked his family and friends for their prayers on Twitter. “Please pray for my mom today. I love you, mommy,” he tweeted on Sunday, July 23. He was also spotted by paparazzi with his new girlfriend at a hospital in Puerto Rico earlier this week although, understandably, he’s kept his mother’s health issues out of the public. The passing of Marc’s mother comes just months after his highly-publicized divorce from his fourth wife, Shannon de Lima.

After Marc, 48, announced the unfortunate news, his fans were quick to give their deepest sympathies. “May God guide you and your family and give you the strength to pass this difficult time,” one user wrote. Another added, “So sorry for your loss. I cannot imagine your pain.” One caring fan wrote, “My heartfelt condolences Marc. Your mother is in a wonderful place next to our Lord. She will give you the strength to continue in life.”

Marc — who is the youngest of his eight siblings — was born to his mother and father Felipe Muñiz (who is still alive) on Sept. 16, 1968. He’s even mentioned in the past that his parents have been a big inspiration behind his music. Our thoughts are with Marc and his family during this very difficult time.
