George Clooney wasn’t able to attend the Golden Globes last weekend, but he did hear about the joke that had everybody laughing at his expense!
The actor stars in the Golden Globe-nominated film “Gravity,” and during the award show's opening monologue, hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler took a shot at the star’s dating life.
“'Gravity' is nominated for best film," Tina began. "It's the story of how George Clooney would rather float away into space and die than spend one more minute with a woman his own age."
After the joke, the camera cut to George’s costar Sandra Bullock and “Gravity” director Alfonso Cuarón laughing hysterically.
But although George wasn’t there to defend himself at the time, what does the hunky actor want to say to his pranksters? Watch your back.
"They have poked the bear with a stick. Oh, they have poked the bear," George teased on Access Hollywood.
And while he appreciates that it was a “well-crafted joke,” the Oscar winner wants the comediennes to get the message.
"I don't want to scare Amy or Tina — I don't want them to be afraid at all — but, uh, they've poked the bear," he repeats.
The 52-year-old has a penchant for dating younger women, his last three girlfriends being Stacy Kiebler, 34, Elisabetta Canalis, 35, and Sarah Larson, 34.
That’s probably why he eventually admits, “there is no defense. It was a really good joke.”
Only days later, costar Sandra made sure to acknowledge George in her Critics’ Choice Awards speech, saying, "I'd like to thank George Clooney for floating away and not coming back,” referring to his role in the space drama.
Which prompted the actor to dole out a similar threat to the brunette beauty. “There's going to be some payback," he laughed.
