Who doesn’t love a George Clooney movie?

It might seem like the 55-year-old actor has always been a staple in Hollywood, but like most stars, George worked for years before he achieved his current level of fame. The Hollywood leading man started his career in the late 1970s and got his big break when he landed a part on the award-winning medical drama ER in 1994.

In 2013, he starred in the science fiction adventure flick Gravity alongside Sandra Bullock where he played an astronaut trying to survive an accident which stranded him in space.

The movie became the eighth highest grossing film in 2013 earning $723 million worldwide — plus it received a whopping ten Academy Award nominations. Though George has an undeniable star power he still remains grateful for his career as an actor.

“I cut tobacco for a living in Kentucky. That was hard work. I sold insurance door-to-door. That’s hard work. Acting is not hard work,” he told The Hollywood Reporter in 2011. “If you’re lucky enough to be sitting at a table like this, you’ve been very lucky in your life. You caught the brass ring somewhere along the way. I’ve known a tremendous number of talented actors who didn’t get opportunities. Is it hard work? It’s long hours, but nobody wants to hear you complain.”
