As much as we love Chip Gaines and Joanna Gaines‘ adorable back-and-forth banter on Fixer Upper, our favorite thing about the HGTV show is the amazing transformations. The designs are truly amazing, turning farm shacks into cottages and outdated decor into stylish vintage.

MUST SEE: Bummer! ‘Fixer Upper’ Participants Don’t Get to Keep All That Gorgeous Furniture

Although Chip and Joanna have renovated dozens of houses throughout Fixer Upper‘s four seasons, and they tend to make over the entire house, we wanted to focus on just living rooms since they’re the heart of the home. After rewatching some of our favorite episodes, we managed to narrow them down to ten of our absolute favorite living room transformations.

Watch the video below to see which rooms made our list.

When it comes to design, there’s no denying that Joanna is a huge fan of shiplap. It’s even become a running gag on the show, with Chip and Joanna posing in “#SHIPLAP” t-shirts on Instagram. It’s gotten so out of hand, there’s even been backlash from fans who think the aesthetic is overused.

“Chip and Joanna are drunk on shiplap,” wrote Kelly Faircloth, a fan of the show. “And they are putting it places that it makes no stylistic sense. For instance, in the first episode of the [third] season, they put shiplap over the mantle of a tiled fireplace. Shiplap says rural or seaside; tiled fireplaces do not.”

In response to the feedback, Joanna’s been scaling back her love for the antique wood in favor of a similar material instead.

“We’ve used other materials to give people new ideas,” she told Parade in 2016. “You’ll see a new version of shiplap–we’re calling it ‘skinnylap.’ It’s a narrow version that has a more modern style.”

However, Joanna’s farmhouse style is what made Fixer Upper one of HGTV’s most popular shows — so they must be doing something right!
