Emma Thompson has been a working actress for three decades now and has been to more award shows than she can count. But that means the actress has her after show ritual down to a tee!
At the National Board of Review Awards Gala on Jan.7, we caught up with the 54-year-old to find out how she unwinds after the chaos dies down.
“I'll go back, put on your furry socks, and have a large cup of gin,” the Oscar winner shares of her after-hours routine. Though not everything about award shows gets easier with age.
“The heels get painful as you get older. I've got band aids on every single toe,” Emma reveals.
The star also talks Disney on the carpet, since her latest film, “Saving Mr. Banks,” revolves around Disney’s journey to get “Mary Poppins” adapted to the big screen.
Her favorite Disney film? Dumbo! “Any elephant on any area I would love,” Emma admits.
And she appreciates the sincere emotion behind Disney’s early films. “…his early movies, there’s a lot of heartbreak, there’s a lot of sadness. You think of Dumbo and you think of Snow White and the real terrifying nature of that witch,” she explains. “He was brought up in a very tough world.”
