It's been nearly seven years since Sheila Farebrother last spoke to her son Elton John — and now the singer's estranged mother is revealing the surprising reason behind their family conflict.
According to 'The Daily Mail,' Elton severed all contact with his 90-year-old mother after she refused to stop talking to two of her dearest friends, whom the 'Bennie & The Jets' singer previously cut out of his life.

Years ago, Elton, 68, reportedly called his mom out of the blue to request she stop speaking to close pals Bob Halley and John Reid, who formerly worked as the star's personal assistant and professional manager, respectively.

"I told him, 'I'm not about to do that and drop them. Bob is like a son to me. He has always been marvelous to me and he lives nearby and keeps an eye on me,'" Sheila recounted of their conversation.

"Then to my utter amazement, he told me he hated me. And he then banged the phone down. Imagine! To me, his mother!" she added.
Sheila explained her son — who welcomed two sons, Zachary, 4, and Elijah, 2, via surrogate with husband David Furnish — perviously fired Halley and Reid in an effort to revamp his professional team.
"It's seven years now in June. But you know, I've got used to it. And it was all so stupid — so petty," Sheila told the publication of the fight with her son.
