'Grey's Anatomy' Star Ellen Pompeo's Favorite Episode Is Not What We Expected

Every Grey's Anatomy fan has a favorite episode — even Ellen Pompeo! The star (who plays Meredith Grey) of the long-running medical drama will appear on Good Morning America on Thursday ahead of the show's 300th episode. But, GMA recently released a clip from the interview on Twitter where Michael Strahan asked Ellen to choose her favorite episode from the series.

"I think... you know I'm going to go out on a limb and say the pilot," she admitted. Michael added, "All the way from the beginning?" "Yeah because that was a conversion of stars," she replied.

We definitely understand why Ellen chose the pilot episode as her favorite. While the bomb episodes, shooting episodes, and plane crash episode might be more dramatic to the viewers, who could ever forget where it all started? McDreamy waking up in Mer's apartment and then she couldn't even remember that his name was Derek Shepherd... classic. That's where MerDer began, the original five interns, and the show we all know and love. The only reason its been on for 14 seasons is because of the support from the fans.

"Well, every year I keep saying 'this is the last year. They're definitely going to get sick of us, ratings are going to plummet, and we're over at the end of this year,'" Ellen admitted on Late Night with Seth Meyers. "I say it every single year, and it never happens. I can't believe people aren't sick of me yet. It's crazy."

This season has already proved to fulfill its promise of being "lighter" and "funnier." And this week's 300th episode is bound to be one of the best ones yet. "We’ve tried to find a way to pay tribute to the original cast, but we didn't have those actors to work with. So we were creative and brought in patients that remind us of some of the original cast so that we could have some conversations that fans have been longing for," co-showrunner Krista Vernoff told The Hollywood Reporter. "There’s a lot of laughs, tears and nostalgia and I’ve also created an Easter egg hunt with songs, sets, dialogue, bit players, and things like that for the avid watchers for 14 years to enjoy."
