There’s always a chance during live broadcasts that something will go wrong, and last night’s Golden Globe red carpet was no exception.

E! network found themselves in hot water when a “fun fact” they ran during their live online coverage of the Golden Globe red carpet incited outrage amongst viewers.

Throughout the carpet, the network posted facts about the celebrities arriving, tidbits that your typical viewer may not know.

When Michael J. Fox appeared, E! ran this:

Fans were outraged by the network’s use of Michael’s illness as a “fun fact” and immediately took to Twitter to voice their opinions.

The network has since released a statement, apologizing for their use of the fact.

“We regret the insensitive classification of Michael J Fox’s Parkinson’s diagnosis during our E online live stream,” the statement read. “We understand the serious nature of the disease and sincerely apologize.”

Michael has yet to comment on the incident.
