Yes, she’s married to one of the hottest hunks in Hollywood, but Deborra-Lee Furness, the wife of Hugh Jackman, is tired of hearing that she’s “lucky.”

The founder of Adopt Change reveals in a new interview, “That to me is a putdown. [It’s] like you suggesting I won the chook [chicken] raffle.”

Married to the Wolverine star for 18 years, Deborra-Lee is successful in her own right, working as a producer and director of short and independent films. She is also an ambassador for modernizing international adoption laws.

A believer that every individual “creates their own destiny,” the mom-of-two added, “If you want something, you put it out there with good intention and you realize it.”

After meeting on the set of Australian TV show, Correlli, in 1995, the pair married the following year in their native Australia. Following two miscarriages and an unsuccessful series of IVF treatment, Hugh and Deborra-Lee adopted their two children.

Of son Oscar’s birth, Hugh recalled him and his wife holding hands throughout the birth and hilariously asking the surrogate, “Do you mind if I get to the business end?”
