Fashion designer L'Wren Scott, longtime partner of Mick Jagger, was found dead Monday morning, hanging by a scarf in her Manhattan apartment, police confirm. It appears the 49-year-old committed suicide.
While police do not expect foul play, they are currently waiting for the official cause of death from the Medical Examiner's Office.
Scott, who began her career as a model and stylist, has been dating Rolling Stones frontman Jagger since 2001.
The rocker, who is reportedly touring with the Stones in Australia, is said to be "shocked and devastated" by his girlfriend's death.
The news of Scott's suicide at 10 am ET came as a surprise to many, considering her Twitter account was updated an hour after with the post:

The brunette bombshell most likely scheduled the tweet to go out at 11 am or an employee unknowingly updated the account.
A few weeks ago, Scott canceled her London Fashion Week show due to "production delays," but was still planning on presenting the collection via social media. The talented designer was also collaborating with retailer Banana Republic on an affordable line of clothes, shoes and accessories.
