For comedian Melissa Peterman, her dream home is the house that Reba McEntire built, though it wasn’t constructed by her country star pal!

“I think I was the first Reba cast member to buy a place. It meant ‘I can be an actress — I can do this,’ and I cried the first time I saw it,” reveals the actress, who played Barbra Jean for six seasons on the hit WB sitcom.

“Walking up the front steps, I felt like I was walking into a mini-fairy-tale castle!” she adds about her 82-year-old, Spanish-style home.

After looking at around 30 houses, it certainly was a happy ending for Melissa, 42, and her actor hubby John Brady, 52, who spotted the two-bed, one-and-a-half bath charmer while jogging in the Silver Lake surburb of LA in 2002.

“The entire place was white, but I loved the style, and the blank canvas gave us something great to work with,” she tells Closer. “I just knew I would be at home here.”

When entering the spacious 1,700-square-foot home, your attention is immediately drawn to the living room, Melissa’s favorite place in the house. “I love the ’60s, room-and-board vibe,” she shares, noting the original wood floors. “I like people to walk into a time warp.”

A casual dining room bridges her living room with a green-tiled kitchen overlooking the backyard seating area and pool, all connected by natural light and a cool California breeze.

She uses these spaces, including the outside seating area she says is “almost like an outdoor living room,” to entertain friends like Reba and Kelly Clarkson or her fellow cast members on ABC Family’s Baby Daddy.

“It would be very hard to leave this place,” she confides. “It was the first home we bought, and that’s when I felt LA had become home.”
