Sadly, Alison Sweeney‘s days on ‘Days of Our Lives’ have come to an end.

The actress, 38, took to her Facebook page earlier today to publish a message to her loyal fans after her last appearance on the show aired this afternoon.

“We’ve been through a lot together, haven’t we?,” she began her heartfelt post. “As many of you may know, when I first found out I was auditioning for Days (in September of 1992), I flipped out!! It was quite literally a dream come true for me because I’d been a mildly obsessed Days of our Lives fan for several years.”

Alison was cast as bad-girl-turned icon Sami Brady DiMera, the daughter of Dr. Marlena Evans (played by Deidre Hall), in 1993 when she was just 17-years-old. She has since starred as “the girl you love to hate” on the popular soap opera for 21 years.

In January, the actress and mom-of-two announced she would be leaving the long-running show to spend more time with her family as well as to focus on her hosting gig on ‘The Biggest Loser.’

But, leaving ‘DOOL’ doesn’t mean Alison is leaving daytime television forever. In fact, she started a new job as a director on the show ‘General Hospital’ in July.

“I’m still going to be around okay?! So this isn’t really goodbye. At least it isn’t goodbye for me. This is just my opportunity to say a great big, sincere, tearful, THANK YOU. For everything. Every cheer, every tear, every tweet, post and letter. Thank you for investing in me and my character,” she concluded her Facebook message to her fans.

Today, NBC released a new farewell clip to commemorate Alison’s last appearance in Salem. Watch the video below!
