David Schwimmer and his wife, Zoe Buckman, are "taking some time apart" after six years of marriage, the couple confirmed to Us Weekly on Wednesday, April 5.

"It is with great love, respect, and friendship that we have decided to take some time apart while we determine the future of our relationship," the duo said in a statement.

"Our priority is, of course, our daughter's happiness and well being during this challenging time, and so we ask for your support and respect for our privacy as we continue to raise her together and navigate this new chapter for our family," they added.

The 50-year-old Friends star and Zoe — a British artist, photographer, and producer — first began dating in 2007, got engaged in March 2010, and tied the knot in a small ceremony three months later in June 2010. The couple welcomed their only child, daughter Cleo Buckman Schwimmer, 5, in May 2011.
In a recent interview, David opened up about the hardships of his mega Friends fame and revealed it negatively impacted the way he interacts with those close to him today.

"It was pretty jarring and it messed with my relationship to other people in a way that took years, I think, for me to adjust to and become comfortable with," he said.

"As an actor, the way I was trained, my job was to observe life and to observe other people, so I used to walk around with my head up, really engaged and watching people," David added. "The effect of celebrity was the absolute opposite: It made me want to hide under a baseball cap and not be seen."

The actor attempted to continue his time as Joey Tribbiani on the spin-off Joey, but the show was sadly short-lived. Matt — who now stars on the Showtime series Episodes and on Man with a Plan — has one daughter, Marina, with his ex-wife, Melissa McKnight.
