After a string of incidents (including a recent hit-and-run that Closer reports could result in jail time) David Cassidy's stepmom and former The Partridge Family co-star Shirley Jones tells Closer Weekly that David's whole family is extremely worried about him.
“We are just scared to death that we are going to wake up one morning and find out that he is dead on the floor,” Shirley exclusively tells Closer.

As David’s alcoholism progressed over the last decade, he's isolated himself from his extended family, including Shirley and his half-brothers, Shaun, Patrick and Ryan Cassidy. Shirley confirms to Closer that David continues to have no contact with the family.

“David has not had a relationship with anyone in the family for years,” Shirley tells Closer. “We are sick over it.”

David’s alcoholism has spun out of control since the death of his mother, actress Evelyn Ward, and the split from his wife of more than 20 years, Sue.

Since 2010, David has pleaded no contest twice and guilty once to three DUI arrests in three different states. On October 27, The Partridge Family star is scheduled to be arraigned for leaving the scene of an accident, after also being cited with driving with a suspended license, an expired tag and improperly changing lanes.
