‘Dancing With the Stars’ Pro Maksim Chmerkovskiy Says There’s Still a Chance He Can Return to the Show Following His Injury — And Win!

Is it just us, or does Maksim Chmerkovskiy have high hopes following his recent injury?

The Dancing With the Stars pro chatted with his celebrity partner, Glee star Heather Morris, in a video released by Good Morning America on Friday, March 31 — and made a pretty bold confession considering the unfortunate circumstance.

"I still feel like we have a chance and you deserve it," Maks, 37, told Heather in the clip. "I want to give you 150% effort and, you know, as physically active, you know, at my best when nothing hurt."

The dancer previously suffered a calf injury during DWTS rehearsals earlier this week and sat out of week two of the competition. It looks like week three will be a no-go for him as well, as he just got surgery on Thursday, March 30.

Prior to the procedure, his fiancée, Peta Murgatroyd, shared a sweet Instagram photo of the couple's baby son, Shai Alexander Chmerkovskiy, with a kind message to his daddy. "Wishing Daddy a speedy recovery from La La Land ?‍?We love you and can't wait to get you back??? Kisses from Shai XO," she wrote on the social media platform. So sweet!

Since his absence, troupe member Alan Bersten has replaced Maks. "Thank You to [Alan] for stepping in at the last second and doing a great job!" Maksim previously wrote on Instagram.

However, despite this big setback, Maks still has one main objective for Season 24. "I want to come back and win," he confessed. We're rooting for you, Maks!
