The unfolding drama between former Sex and the City co-stars Sarah Jessica Parker and Kim Cattrall has had enough twists, turns, and unexpected cameos (we’re talking about you, Jason Lewis aka Smith Jerrod) to form the basis for a TV show of its own. The latest person of note, it seems, to weigh in on the drama is fellow SATC alumna Cynthia Nixon, who appears to have pledged her allegiances to team SJP in a typically understated, Miranda-esque way (or who knows, maybe we’re reading to much into it.)

The actress paid tribute to her longtime friendship with Sarah Jessica on Instagram by posting a candid outtake from a T Magazine shoot. She captioned the pic, “Old friends ran into each other at a @TMagazine shoot today… miss you, @SarahJessicaParker.” We couldn’t help but wonder — was this Cynthia’s way of subtly picking sides?

If you’re out of the loop with the Sex and the City drama to date, here’s what you need-to-know. Back in October, it was confirmed that a third movie would not be going ahead, with certain reports pointing to Kim’s alleged “outrageous demands” putting a block on the project. Kim, however, denied any such claims, revealing on Twitter that “the only demand I made was that I didn’t want to do a third film.” In a subsequent interview with Piers Morgan, she denied that the castmates were ever close friends, singling out Sarah Jessica who “could have been nicer.”

When Kim’s brother sadly passed away at the beginning of February, her former co-stars rushed to share their condolences on social media, but whereas Cynthia’s message was greeted with “thanks” and “love,” Sarah Jessica’s prompted an Instagram post in which Kim labelled her as “cruel” for “exploiting [the family’s] tragedy in order to restore [her] ‘nice girl’ persona.” We’re willing to guess that we haven’t heard the last of this particular saga. Your move, Charlotte?
