Several months after Gwyneth Paltrow came under fire for her controversial comments about motherhood, actress Connie Britton is sharing her own perspective on being a single, working mother.
"Our hours are long, but I would never compare what I do to what anyone else does," Connie says in a new interview. "Everybody's working hard and doing the best they can — if you're a mom, there's that pressure, we all face it."
To jog your memory, Gwyneth previously told E! News, "I think to have a regular job and be a mom is not as... of course there are challenges, but it's not like being on set [for 14 hours of day]."
Connie says it doesn't matter what occupation a mother holds. "I'm constantly being pulled in different directions. But that's the thing: Moms are pulled and distracted," she tells Redbook magazine's October issue.
"I would never say that's worse for me because I'm an actor. I am actually 100 percent sure all moms feel that way."
To be fair, Gwyneth attempted to clarify her remarks last May, claiming they were misconstrued.
As Connie continues to navigate motherhood as a single lady, the Nashville star admits she isn't consumed with finding a guy to fit into her family, which includes 3-year-old adopted son, Eyob, whom she calls Yoby.
"I would love to be doing this with a partner, and I want Yoby to have a father figure. But I also know that putting that kind of pressure on myself or on a relationship would be disastrous," she explains.
"It's funny — my married friends tell me all the time, ‘What you have is so much easier.' When you're doing it on your own, you don't have to [argue over] how you're raising the kids," she tells the mag.
