While planning her upcoming wedding to producer Brad Falchuk, 47, Gwyneth Paltrow has some predictably unusual ideas. “She’s asked her ex-husband, Chris Martin, to give her away,” a source told In Touch.

In the four years since Gwyneth, 45, and the Coldplay frontman, 41, “consciously uncoupled” after 10 years of marriage, Gwyn said he’s “like my brother.”

And because her dad, Bruce Paltrow, died in 2002, she wants Chris to do the honors. “To outsiders, it might appear odd, but Brad is used to Chris being a part of their lives,” said the source. “Gwyneth doesn’t care who else finds it strange.”

Gwyneth previously opened about her divorce from Chris during an interview with Stephen Colbert and shared the exes have had their kids, Apple. 13, and Moses, 11, in mind throughout their breakup. “Divorce is terrible. It was really painful. It was really hard, and I think we really genuinely wanted our kids to be as unscathed as possible,” Gwyn shared. “And we thought, if we could really maintain the family even though we weren’t a couple, that was kind of the goal. So that’s what we’ve tried to do.”

Chris previously told NME, “If you have kids and they start reading about their parents not liking each other, that’s not good. We just spent a long time trying to maintain a friendship so there wouldn’t have to be any kind of battle.”

That said, they still spend a lot of time together today for the sake of their children. “He’s at my house every single day,” Gwyn told InStyle. “We have our own lives but we still have our family life. To this day, Chris would take a bullet for me, even though I’m not his wife. I honestly think Chris and I have contributed something positive to the culture of divorce. It was such a difficult time in my life and I was trying so hard to protect my children and my family, Chris included. We were both fragile. It was really tough. To me, it felt like this is a quiet way to do this and it is contained.” We can’t wait for Gwyneth and Brad’s wedding!
