As she descended from the heavens in a glittery, feather-adorned Bob Mackie gown in February 2017, Cher belted out her hit "Woman's World" for the crowd at Las Vegas’ Monte Carlo Resort and Casino. The singer then playfully prodded her adoring fans about their raucous cheers. “Is this because you’re in awe of my immense talent,” she asked, “or are you just astonished that I’m here?”
It was a legitimate question — the music legend had stopped touring in 2014 due to a potentially deadly virus that threatened her kidneys and heart. But she never gave up hope of a comeback. “I didn’t want to be finished,” she said. And she wasn’t.

Healthy again, Cher returned to the stage with her Classic Cher production in early 2017 and showed no signs of slowing down. A Broadway musical about her life, The Cher Show, was scheduled to open in fall 2018, preceded by a summer world premiere run in Chicago.
“My life as a musical... seems crazy, exciting, and bizarre,” Cher said. “But that’s probably how my life seems to most people!” The show — written, produced and directed by Tony Award winners from other smash hits like Jersey Boys and Hamilton — follows Cher’s life through different key moments and includes some of her biggest hit songs.
As if that’s not enough, Cher also joined the rapper Future in a Gap fall ad campaign about different people finding things in common. “I didn’t know who Future was before this,” Cher admitted, “but I knew it would be fun to work with someone who is completely unlike me and who is young, talented and striving.”
When she’s not working, Cher spends time with her resilient mom Georgia, sister Georganne, and sons Chaz and Elijah. But fans don’t have to worry that Cher will retire from showbiz anytime soon. “I keep coming back because I have no place else to go,” she said. “What else would I do? I love to sing!”
