Rest in peace, René Angélil.
Céline Dion's beloved husband sadly died on Thursday, Jan. 14 after a long battle with cancer, a rep for the singer exclusively confirmed to People. He was 73-years-old.
"[He] passed away this morning at his home in Las Vegas after a long and courageous battle against cancer," a statement from the rep read. "The family requests that their privacy be respected at the moment; more details will be provided at a later time."

The 47-year-old singer first spoke about her husband's newest throat cancer battle — he was previously diagnosed with the disease in both 1998 and 2013 — in March 2015. "He can't use his mouth. He can’t eat, so I feed him. He’s got a feeding tube. I have to feed him three times a day. I do this myself, and so I feed my husband and feed my kids," she told ABC News.
The "My Heart Will Go On" singer has remained by René's side throughout his illness and promised to fulfill his dying wish. "I'll say, 'You're scared? I understand. Talk to me about it'… And René says to me, 'I want to die in your arms.' Okay, fine, I'll be there, you'll die in my arms."

The couple — who tied the knot in 1994 — are parents to three children, René-Charles, 14, and four-year-old twins, Eddy and Nelson. René is also a dad to three older children, Patrick, 47 (with his first wife, Denyse Duquette), Jean Pierre, 42, and Anne-Marie, 38 (with his second wife, Anne Renée).
Our thoughts are with René's family during this difficult time.
