In an exclusive new interview with Closer Weekly, one of the singer's close friends revealed Celine's 16-year-old son, René-Charles Angélil, is even encouraging his famous mom to find love again.
"He said, 'Mom, if you’re going to be dating, it’s OK,'" the friend shared. "But Celine just hugged him and said, 'You’re smart like your father, but I don’t believe I’m ready.'"
The "My Heart Will Go On" songstress and her beloved husband, René, were married for 21 years before he sadly died of throat cancer at age 73 in January 2016. "Fans tell her she needs to date [again], but Celine says, 'What do you mean — again? I’ve never dated,'" the insider continued.
"It is definitely too soon for me," Celine has said. "It’s very difficult for me to see myself with a different person."
Celine and her late spouse were in such a devoted relationship that René is the only man the star has ever kissed. "Almost any memory Celine has in her life is tied to him," her friend said. "Losing him was like losing half of herself, so she isn’t thinking in terms of finding someone to replace him."
Despite her loss, Celine — who is also a mother to six-year-old twin sons Eddy and Nelson Angélil — has assured her friends and family that she is doing just fine on her own.
"I have the love of my children. I have the love of my fans. My life is not empty of love," she said.
