As Savannah Guthrie celebrated her last day on the job before maternity leave, her fellow Today anchors toasted her departure with sippy cups full of apple juice and tons of advice from fellow celebrity moms!
"My heart is full, I’ll miss you guys," Savannah told her co-workers during the festivities. "It's been so fun, it's such a surreal thing to go through it on TV like this...it has gone fast and I've been so lucky."
Both the journalist's husband, Mike Feldman, and her mom, Nancy Guthrie, called into the show as a surprise and Mike revealed her maternity leave is a "paternity gain" for him! "We're looking forward to sleeping in to like 4 a.m." he joked.
"One of the most surprising and heartening aspects of going on this journey in such a public way was the real love and support I experienced from this amazing community," Savannah later wrote in her farewell blog post.
"God has blessed me beyond measure. At 42 years old, I had every reason to think I may have missed my chance. I don’t know why things worked out as they did. But there is only one possible response: to be full of gratitude and praise."
Before she left, the mom-to-be received some expert parenting advice from A-list stars (as well as a few first ladies!)
Michelle Obama: "Hey Savannah, congratulations on the upcoming birth of your new child. I know you're gonna be a phenomenal mother. Parenthood is one of the best things you can do in life, and you're gonna be great at it. So enjoy every moment because it goes by so fast."
Katie Couric: "I guess the biggest piece of advice is enjoy every second, not even every minute, every second because you wont believe how fast time will fly. You're gonna have this teeny tiny baby, this little perfect human being and then suddenly they're gonna be off to college..."
Julia Roberts: "The best thing you can do in your life is to be a mom and buy a crockpot. Because you will not have time to make dinner in the evening for the next six and a half years."
Tina Fey: "I just wanted to say best wishes on your upcoming delivery and here's something no one's going to tell you. So much weird stuff happens to your boobs. It's a horror show. Enjoy it!"
Hillary Clinton: "I wish for you all of the joy and frankly the challenge of becoming a new mom because you will learn so much about yourself, and you are fortunate enough to have such a wonderful partner with Michael. Just make sure he does his fair share because he will bring his own special gifts to the nurturing of your new child."
Kate Winslet: "Enjoy every minute of it and don't lose the baby weight too fast. It will only drive you crazy...There's so much going on that I find the difficult part is remembering you have to eat because when you're nursing, you really have to eat...so actually, nursing is a good excuse to eat heaps. Enjoy it absolutely."
