What divorce? Following Carrie Underwood‘s scary fall in November that led to wrist surgery and 40 stitches on her face, plus her husband Mike Fisher‘s surprising unretirement from hockey just six months after he hung up his skates, rumors started swirling that their marriage was, ahem, on thin ice. But the country singer is more comfortable in her marriage now more than ever.

“She wants the world to know that she and Mike are stronger than ever,” an insider recently told Life & Style. “They’ve certainly had their ups and downs, like everyone, but divorce was never an option for Carrie. She says hard work, faith, and commitment to family saved her marriage.”

Carrie and Mike have been married more than seven years, and they’ve overcome rough patches. “Their secrets to a solid marriage,” an insider said, “are open communication and spending quality
time together.” The Nashville-based couple’s son, Isaiah, turned three years old in February, and the insider says Carrie and Mike, 37, are working on giving him a little sibling. “Carrie wants to be clear that it’s not a Band-Aid baby,” the insider noted. “It’s definitely not to fix anything. It’s to spread the love.”

In fact, the couple has been trying for baby No. 2 for some time. A source previously told Life & Style, “Carrie’s been desperate to have a little brother or sister for Isaiah. But she’s been struggling to get pregnant.”

Back in 2015, however, the “Before He Cheats” songstress opened up about the difficulties their marriage faced following Isaiah’s birth. “Your marriage does change a lot when you have a baby — it’s a whole new dynamic,” she shared. “You have to make it a point to not lose yourselves as a couple. There’s so much going on it becomes easy to not focus on your marriage anymore.” We have faith these two will make it work — and Isaiah would make the best (and cutest!) big brother.
