Rest in peace, Carrie Fisher.
Carrie's only child, daughter Billie Lourd, 24 — whom she welcomed in July 1992 with her ex-partner, talent agent Bryan Lourd, 56 — confirmed the news of her mother's passing in a statement released by family spokesperson Simon Halls.

"It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning," the message began, according to People.
"She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly. Our entire family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers," the statement read.
Last week, Carrie — who is the daughter of actress Debbie Reynolds, 84, and late singer Eddie Fisher — was flying from London to LA when she went into cardiac arrest and reportedly stopped breathing.

Paramedics immediately removed Carrie from the flight and rushed her to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center where she was treated for a heart attack. She passed away in the hospital four days later.
On Christmas Day, the actress' mother, Debbie, took to Twitter to provide fans with an update on her daughter's health. "Carrie is in stable condition. If there is a change, we will share it... I thank you for your prayers and good wishes," Debbie wrote on Sunday, Dec. 25.
Debbie and her husband, Eddie — who died at age 82 of complications from a hip surgery in 2010 — welcomed Carrie in October 1956. The couple, who were married from 1955 until 1959, are also parents to a 58-year-old son, actor Todd Fisher.

She also appeared in movies The Blues Brothers (1980), When Harry Met Sally... (1989), Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle (2003) and The Women (2008) and on TV shows Laverne & Shirley, Frasier, Ellen, Sex and the City, Family Guy, Weeds, 30 Rock and The Big Bang Theory, among others.
