At 41, Cameron Diaz is feeling the pressure that so many women before her have experienced. As an actress in Hollywood who is now "over the hill," so to speak, she admits to feeling like a "failure" for aging in the industry.
"Women don't allow other women to age gracefully," the Annie star says in a new interview. "And we don't give ourselves permission to age gracefully."
Though Diaz points out the inevitable, we will all grow older, she finds society's "crazy" obsession with looking youthful ridiculous, but acknowledges that criticism about her looks has affected her thinking before.
"For me I feel like if I—it's almost as if we have failed if we don't remain 25 for the rest of our lives. Like we are failures. It's a personal...failure," explains Diaz. "Like its my fault that at 40 years old...I still don't look like I'm 25."
The blonde stunner, who still looks younger than her 41 years, isn't the only celebrity to feel this way.

Oprah Winfrey, who interviewed the actress for an upcoming OWN special Cameron Diaz & Sharon Stone: Aging Gracefully, is baffled by our culture's obsession "with not growing into who we were really meant to be." Diaz's response to that: "I wasn't able to defy nature."

Stone also appears on Oprah's OWN special, but the star has been vocal for years about her past struggle with acceptance. "There was a point in my 40s where I went into the bathroom with a bottle of wine...and I cried and cried and cried," admits the now 56-year-old. "I don't want to be an 'ageless beauty.' I want to be a woman who is the best I can be at my age."
When the actress posed on the cover of Closer in a bikini at age 62, it was her message to the world that older women can definitely be sexy! “It’s just pure joy,” Seymour told us about aging and becoming a grandmother. “The best thing about being 62 is being alive and healthy...I made a choice a while ago that I wanted to age gracefully and actually have my own face."
The Oscar winner couldn't be happier at 68-years-old! "I don’t often wish that I’m younger because I think that it’s pretty cool to be older. What I love the most about being older is that lovely I don’t give a f--kness kind of thing." She added, "All you young things don’t be afraid of getting older because it’s f--king great!"
Though the actress admits she's cried over her own mortality, she's not scared of dying. "I think it's really important to realize we're not going to live forever," Fonda has said about nearing 80. "With age, I am able to appreciate the beauty in small things more than when I was younger perhaps because I pay attention more."
The former sex symbol has no qualms about getting older, she just gets annoyed when other people do! “I don’t look like I did 30 years ago. Get over it!” the Body Heat star told Closer. “You have to get to that place as a woman where you know your worth isn’t dependent on [looks].”
The former Charlie's Angels actress talked to Closer about her experience aging in Hollywood. "Every stage of life has something special and certainly this one does," the 68-year-old told us. "To dwell on looks or the superficial, I don’t think brings happiness. What brings me joy and peace is family."
