"Never tell me the odds." The odds that Burt Reynolds was meant to portray Han Solo in Star Wars, that is!
In a recent interview on The Jonathan Ross Show, the 79-year-old actor made a shocking confession about his long acting career — he was once asked to play Han Solo in the original trilogy Star Wars franchise!

"I'm not a big fan of science fiction," Burt said of ultimately passing on the role during the sit-down, where he was seated beside Simon Pegg, who appears in the series' upcoming revival, Star Wars: The Force Awakens. "I should have done it actually."

Of course, the coveted role ended up going to Harrison Ford! The 73-year-old actor will reprise the part in the highly-anticipated Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which is set to hit theaters on Friday, Dec. 18.

After gaining international recognition in Star Wars, Harrison played the title character in the hit Indiana Jones franchise. He's additionally known for his roles in movies Blade Runner, Witness, Patriot Games and Clear and Present Danger. He also played Han Solo in the newest Star Wars film, Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
