The Academy Awards could have profited from another viral moment on Sunday, but the adorable planned segment was cut before anyone even knew about it!
According to reports, The Amazing Spider-Man’s Andrew Garfield was supposed to present a superhero segment at Sunday’s awards show, but was MIA, prompting Captain America star Chris Evans to step in.
And it wasn’t just Garfield who lost out on presenting. San Francisco’s famous “Batkid” was scheduled to join the 30-year-old up on stage as well!
Five-year-old leukemia survivor Miles Scott, who made headlines last year for his Make-A-Wish outing as “Batkid” in which he was cheered on by thousands of spectators in San Francisco, had rehearsed the segment on March 1, which was an introduction to a montage of film heroes.

Miles’ family had traveled to LA for the event but was informed of the production change on the day of the ceremony.
"I don't know if they ran out of time, or if there was something about the segment they didn't like," Miles' mother Natalie Scott said about the cut, sharing that her son had his tuxedo ready to go.
"It got pulled so quickly that we didn't have a lot of insight into what was going on. It is kind of a disappointment, but things happen. I know that's how TV goes and how Hollywood is. We're just not used to that," she added.
Reports differ on whether it was the Academy’s decision to pull the plug or Garfield’s. Sources say Garfield backed out because he had issues with the script, but an Academy spokesperson released a different account.
"Due to the nature of a live show, hard decisions sometimes must be made which require the Academy to cut segments due to the logistics of production," the statement read.
"Andrew Garfield understood that his segment had to be omitted, and he drove to Disneyland on Monday to spend time with 5-year-old Miles Scott (Batkid) and his family." It has not been confirmed whether the two actually spent the day together.
Either way, Miles will always be a hero in our eyes and one we’d like to see score his very own movie!
