She hadn't appeared on late night television in more than 50 years, but Barbra Streisand made an amazing return on Monday night (Sept. 15) to promote her new album, Partners.
Stopping by the Tonight Show, the songstress began the evening with a truly memorable duet. Barbra and host Jimmy Fallon — filling in for the legend's famous collaborators like Elvis Presley, Blake Shelton and Michael Buble — performed a medley of tunes, including "Love Me Tender," for which the comedian donned a pompadour wig to impersonate "the King."
After the performance, the 72-year-old beauty sat behind the Tonight Show desk at Jimmy's insistence and admitted his vocals were much better than she expected.
“Actually, I was very impressed with you. You’re very good,” the Oscar winner told the excited 39-year-old.
Jimmy confessed he was initially worried about having the actress on the show. “I thought you might be a nightmare, or a diva. But, you were nice to everybody here...You are allowed to be a diva. What did you do with Barbra Streisand?!” he joked.
“I’m quite ordinary," she replied. "We lead a simple life. We don't really like the big-time stardom thing...We take little trips in our truck...My husband drives," she shared of long-time partner, James Brolin.
Though she may lead a relatively normal day-to-day life, Barbra reminded us all why she's a superstar (and we're not) with a solo performance of "Come Rain or Come Shine" to close out the night.
