Where Was Sasha Obama During President Barack Obama’s Farewell Speech?

Barack Obama, out!

The current President of the US gave a powerful and emotional farewell speech on Tuesday, Jan. 10 in Chicago — but fans couldn’t stop wondering why his youngest daughter, Sasha, didn’t join himself, his wife, Michelle Obama, and their older daughter, Malia, at the very special event!

Tearing up at the end of his lengthy goodbye, he proudly thanked his two girls for being there for him the past eight years.

“Under the strangest of circumstances you have become two amazing young women. You are smart and you are beautiful. But more importantly, you are kind and you are thoughtful and you are full of passion,” he said. “You wore the burden of years in the spotlight so easily. Of all that I have done in my life, I am most proud to be your dad.”

However, when the camera flashed to his family (who also couldn’t hold back the waterworks!), 15-year-old Sasha was noticeably absent from the audience.

According to a White House official, the teen simply stayed back in Washington DC because she had to study for a test she had the next morning!

The 55-year-old politician also spent some of his time on the podium thanking his wife and the First Lady, Michelle, for all she’s done during his term.

“Michelle LaVaughn Robinson, girl of the Southside,” Barack began as the crowd went wild and even gave the FLOTUS a standing ovation. “For the past 25 years, you’ve been not only my wife and mother of my children, but you’ve been my best friend.” His kind words even got Malia, 18, choked up.

“You took on a role you didn’t ask for and made it your own with grace and grit and style and good humor. You made the White House a place that belongs to everybody. And a new generation sets its sights higher because it has you as a role model,” he continued. “You’ve made me proud. You’ve made the country proud.” Someone grab us tissues, please!
