At one time they were known as one of Hollywood’s strongest couples, so news of their split in August sent shockwaves through Tinsel Town
But it looks like Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas are trying to get their 13-year marriage back on track after they were spotted in New York recently having lunch together.
An eye witness at the Ocean Grill in Manhattan’s Upper West Side said they were “laughing and enjoying each other’s company” along with their 10-year-old daughter Carys.
Sources told the New York Post’s Page Six they were “really focused on [their daughter] but were also laughing together.”
The married couple confirmed through their rep in August they were taking a break from each other to “evaluate and work on their marriage.” Neither party have filed for divorce.
When asked about his wife at the Emmys, Douglas said, “Catherine is great. She is doing wonderful, talked to her today [and] just got a lovely note from her.
“I'm very hopeful that we're going to work things out ...We're just taking a break, a couple of issues, sometimes you got to do that.”
And while he was promoting his movie Last Vegas in October, Douglas - who was wearing his wedding ring – said of their relationship, “Things are great. Onward and upward.”
Catherine, who received treatment for bipolar disorder in April, has also been spotted with her wedding ring on and gushed about her husband’s Emmy win for his role in Behind The Candelabra.
Other reports have said the 69-year-old has breakfast with his wife and children at their New York home whenever he is in the city.
