Amy Smart Reveals She Welcomed Her Baby Daughter via Surrogate

Amy Smart is loving being a new mom!

In a new Instagram photo of herself and her baby daughter, Flora, the 40-year-old actress revealed she and her TV star husband, Carter Oosterhouse, actually welcomed their little girl via surrogate.

“One month ago today, Dec. 26, our amazing beautiful daughter came into this world. Feeling so grateful to have her in my arms… after years of fertility struggles I give thanks today to our kind, loving surrogate for carrying her,” Amy captioned the adorable snapshot on Monday, Jan. 23.

At the time of Flora’s birth, the couple took to Instagram to adorably welcome their bundle of joy. “It is with great gratitude and pleasure to welcome our little girl Flora ? to the world. What a blessed way to bring in 2017?? Amen and Thank You God for this special new life!! ????,” Amy captioned a cute pic of herself posing with Carter, also 40, and their newborn daughter on Dec. 31.

“We are so excited to announce the birth of our little lady… Flora! We love you more than you know and can’t wait to experience the journey. What a blessing,” Carter captioned the same family photo on his own Instagram page.

Amy and Carter — who works as a TV carpenter and currently hosts three HGTV shows, Carter Can, Red Hot & Green, and Million Dollar Room — announced their engagement after one year of dating in April 2011. They later married in September 2011.

The duo isn’t the only Hollywood couple to turn to surrogacy in recent months. Grey’s Anatomy star Ellen Pompeo welcomed Baby No. 3, a son named Eli Christopher Pompeo Ivery, with her husband, Chris Ivery, in late December as well. Since the star didn’t step out with a baby bump in the months leading up to Eli’s birth, many fans are assuming she welcomed him via a surrogate mother!

Other stars who’ve welcomed children via surrogate include Tyra Banks, Sarah Jessica Parker, Giuliana Rancic, Nicole Kidman, and more!
