After her starring role in the 1970 film, Love Story, Ali MacGraw became known for her gorgeous brunette locks. But now, four decades later, the actress is letting that famous hair turn gray.
"I turned 75 on April Fool's Day, as you know," Ali says in a sneak peek from her recent sit-down with Oprah Winfrey. "I suddenly thought, 'Enough is enough.'"
While she knows it may not be the most popular choice — "I'm sure there's a million people out there that think I'm crazy" — the Oscar nominee knew it was right for her.
"I felt some kind of change. I really did. I mean, about time, wouldn't you say?" she adds.
Moving away from the Hollywood culture has helped the mom-of-one embrace her natural beauty. Now living in Santa Fe, Ali acknowledges, "I'm safe doing this here."
She admits, "I'm so intimidated...walking down Rodeo Drive. Oh God, somebody's soon going to say, 'Wow, I know somebody who could really do your neck,' or 'What are you doing now?' All that L.A. talk, to define your worth."
But seeing other "mature" women gave her the courage to make the change. "I thought, 'Screw it. I'm just going to see what it looks like. It looked awful for a while, but now I really love it!" she shares.
