When Alec Baldwin began calling his ex-wife Kim Basinger a few months ago, he had something other than legal battles to discuss.
The couple’s only child, daughter Ireland (long the center of her parents’ vicious divorce) voluntarily checked into rehab on April 10, and in the months leading up to the incident, Alec was calling Kim with concerns.

“In the past two months,” says a friend of Alec’s, “they’ve talked more than they have in the past 14 years.” It’s a sea change for the famously volatile couple, who divorced in 2002 after nine years of marriage.
But when Ireland started having emotional issues so severe that she voluntarily checked into Soba Recovery Center in Malibu, Alec, 57, and Kim realized they had to work together to help her. Says the friend, “Now they’re trying to form a united, supportive front for Ireland.”

It was rumored that Ireland checked into rehab for partying, but in fact, the 19-year-old posted on Twitter, “I am here with some emotional trauma and getting the intensive therapy I needed in order to recover.” A family friend tells 'Closer': “There are multiple issues with Ireland, and doctors are doing their best to help her sort them out.”
