"The ambulance came and the paramedics had stabilized him and everything seemed fine," the 19-year-old told Entertainment Tonight. "I got to give him a hug and said, 'I love you,' and that was the last time I saw him."
"He was like the perfect dad," Carter — who is Alan's only child with second wife Gina Tolleson — added.
Alan and Gina, 47, welcomed Carter in July 1997. The couple tied the knot in 1994 and divorced in 1999. The actor is additionally a father to two older sons, Brennan, 42, and singer Robin Thice, 39, from his first marriage to Gloria Loring. He married his third wife, Tanya Callau, in 2005.
Two gentlemen who witnessed Alan's fatal health episode at Pickwick Gardens hockey rink previously opened up about the tragic ordeal in an exclusive interview with Closer Weekly.
"We were here playing hockey and Alan was out on the ice and he started to feel queasy... and [after the] paramedics came and took him away, we were just talking [and said] we thought it was going to be fine," Mark Decarlo told Closer.
"By the time the paramedics got here he seemed [to be] actually doing a lot better," Sean Branney said. "We all had the impression that he was going to be — I mean, it wasn’t pleasant what he was going through — but we thought he was going to be ok."
"That's why we're all shocked... because we thought he was... we thought something happened to him but he was going to be ok," Decarlo told Closer.
