After working as a traveling life coach for years, 36-year-old Shanna Fried survived on fast food during the long hours spent commuting to clients' homes.
Eventually, her weight crept up to 269 lbs. "I remember on the inside feeling very disgusted with myself," Shanna tells Women's Health of going into stores and not being able to fit into the extra-larges. “I tried everything and it was all difficult. I always hated it."
But after stepping into her first session with a boxing instructor, the New York City resident finally found something she loved! "I had so many feelings inside about myself that hitting something was a release for me. In the first two weeks I lost at least 20 lbs.," she shares.
Now weighing a healthy 165 lbs., Shanna was inspired to open her own business as a life coach/personal trainer. And after such a dramatic weight-loss, the blonde beauty says its the little things that have brought the biggest rewards.
The first examples that come to mind? "Being able to completely cross my legs and trying on pants or trying on shirts that [are] two sizes too big," Shanna reveals.
Along with healthier eating habits, Shanna works out six times per week, switching up her routine between boxing, kickboxing, SoulCycle and CrossFit.
“I’m never going to be 110 lbs. or 120 lbs., which is something that I thought I needed to be in order to be happy," she tells the mag. "[But] the realization and the acceptance that I came to was that I will not be that size 2, and actually, I don’t want to be that size 2 because that’s not the person I am.”
